Brother Gary and Sister Jo Ann Powers are the owners and operators of Bible Quiz Powers Materials and bpqowers.com. Together they coached the Senior teams from the Abundant Life Church in Plano, Texas for over ten years. After retiring from active coaching in 1999, they have a continuing burden to assist other coaches in achieving a successful Bible Quiz Ministry in their local church. During their years of coaching they were blessed to represent the Texas District six times at the North American Bible Quiz Finals, finishing in the top 10 three times (each time with completely different quizzers), including a 2nd place finish in 1999. They are the two time recipients of the Texas District Coach of the Year Award, and three time First Runner-up for National Coach of the year. Their quizzers have received numerous honors including Texas District Quizzer of the Year, Texas District Novice Quizzer, National High Scorer, and National Quizzer of the Year. In addition to providing materials, they have conducted Coaches Seminars for numerous Districts, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Texas, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Bro. Powers is an assisting Senior Quizmaster for the Texas District, and is an official at many of the Senior Bible Quiz Extravaganzas as well as the Senior North American Bible Quiz Finals. Sister Powers has been an active question writer over 20 years, and with the assistance of Bro. Powers, has written the Senior National Extravaganza sets for the past seven years.

This is their fourteenth year to provide materials for the Senior program, and the eleventh year to provide Junior program materials. In 2006 the UPCI Sunday School Division began distributing their materials as a part of official items offered for Junior Bible Quizzing. In 2007 the UPCI General Youth Division adopted their materials as the official Youth Division Materials for Senior Bible Quizzing, and outsourced the entire order processing and shipping of materials to their company. In 2010 the UPCI General Sunday School Division adopted BQPowers materials as the official Junior Bible Quiz Materials as well. Their materials and quiz practice sets are used by many Junior, Intermediate and Experienced teams, including many of the top teams in nation.
