" In a nutshell, I have had a good experience with our purchase and service at McClains in Ft Worth. Usually folks write reviews when they are unhappy...

My wife and I purchased our new 2017 Winnebago Vista LX 35F this past July. I researched all over the US for this particular model. McClain's price was much less than other dealerships I found. We traded our 2005 Outback 31 ft travel trailer in on the motorhome. A trade in amount was presented according to the bluebook value of our RV sight unseen. I bragged what pristine condition our 12 year old camper was as we kept it garaged and made sure everything was well maintained including regular waxing. I guess they hear that a lot because the general manager at first didn't seem all that impressed with my description. When he viewed my old rig, he walked over and apologized to me and said how impressed he was with the condition inside and out and increased the trade in offer significantly. FYI, I thought the first offer was pretty good. I know he didn't lose money on it since it had new tires, battery, LP tanks, inverter and AC unit. Like I said, I kept it in tip top shape.

Since this was my first experience driving a motorhome, I was offered a driving lesson. The tips and training proved very useful as I have only experienced two "curb checks" thusfar and am able to put it just about anywhere I want.

Unfortunately as with all the RVs my family and I have purchased since 1976, there were some warranty issues that had to be resolved. RVs unlike automobiles are mostly built by hand lacking the same quality control as an assembly line offers... Although I believe Winnebago to be a quality brand, I think our motorhome must have been built just before a holiday or on a Friday...

Among the issues found was a defective leveling jack, a defective slide motor, a 110 electrical short caused by a slowly dripping fresh water line to the toilet because the water supply line was cross threaded when it was originally installed, a loose hinge on a cargo door, and a tear on the back of the driver seat from the slide out dragging on it (happened before our purchase.)

Parts, including a new toilet had to be ordered and installed which took a few months mostly because of our schedule including our evacuation from Hurricane Harvey, and waiting for the parts to come in. It took a couple visits as we found new issues to add to the list of repairs.

Since our home is 300 miles away, my wife and I decided to stay at the dealership as our repairs were taken care of. We spent the nights in the dealership campground. During the day, as things were repaired or replaced, my wife, our two dogs and I waited in the customer lounge. We always felt welcomed even when our Beagle did her barking thing.. Each afternoon, our motorhome was moved back to the campground where we spent the night.

While we were there on our last visit to get a cargo door repainted and the seat recovered, my wife and I decided to purchase a tow car. We were welcomed to stay in the campground as our tow car was being equipped in the onsite Camping World installation bay.

Did it take a while to get everything tip top? Yes....

Did I get a little frustrated at times? Yes.... but that's life...

Were we treated fairly, courteously and welcomed? Definitely YES! We felt like we were part of the McClain family.

Will we be back for our next rig. You bet!

The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because no one is perfect and you probably wouldn't have read this. "

" No even a hello... me and my sister went out to McClain's to look at some RVs because she's interested in buying one because I have one. So we walked inside McClain's walked around walked into every single RV they had on display and not one salesman even looked up. Oh, I should probably mention that we're black even though that shouldn't make a difference. "

" I had to give McClains RV one star because it wont let you give no stars. This is the worst service department I have ever experienced. They replaced the awning on our RV (warranty) and took them 3 months. The service rep would not return our calls so I ask for a manager and he said it would be checked by him personally and he would call me back within the hour. Three days later I called and left a message for him and my call was never returned. When they finally called and said our RV was ready for pick up went went there the same afternoon and they had lost the keys to our RV. They did replace them but took several weeks and they mailed them to us. If your looking for an RV this is the last place you should look. "

" My Salesman was great but the service is awful. I've been multiple time for same issues simple stuff never resolved. I was told by service representative that he did not like my Sunstar RV. I am not a confrontational woman but have been treated like I was a witch. I'd give less than one star if I could. "

" I would give negative stars if I could all because of Sam Wooldridge the service "director". First off, he does not return phone calls, I guess he's too busy for his customers to even call them back. Second, if you finally get him on the line he is so arrogant and cocky that he speaks down to you because you, the customer, wanted to go over some of the repair work.
On top of it, they are ridiculously expensive even though he said they are skinny; $150 an hour for a tech he's paying less than $50 an hour which he accidentally told me; "we don't even pay them $50 an hour but that's none of your business."
At the end of the day, there are a lot of more reputable places to take your RV/Travel Trailer in Dallas/Fort Worth, might as well save Sam the time from us customers interrupting his day and go with one of the others. "

" I came on a weekday and wanted to browse RV's. I told the salesman we were just beginning to get serious about buying one to go full-time in. I was told they only unlock the RV's on Saturday but I was welcome to look at the ones on the floor inside. I asked about one of the buses outside and was told they start around $300,000 and the only ones they had were $500,000. They were not interested in showing me anything. Also, I already knew its possible to get a class A for a heck of a lot less than $300,000! I may not have been ready to buy that day but they just ensured that I will not return there when I am ready to buy in a month or two! Bad move guys!
I went to the RV place next door and Bill, the salesman, was very helpful. Try there first! Everything was unlocked and I was able to browse at my leisure and he was very informative about financing options and info on various types of RV's. "

" Walked in the front door and the first words I heard were "over there you dumb idiot!". The manager was talking to one of the sales staff. It was a depressing atmosphere. One salesman even told me he's not selling anything today because it's too hot. I wanted to look at RV's but the sales staff didn't.
I did not purchase. "

" Bought the trailer here in 2014. Needed awning replacement done on insurance. Parts/service department wanted to charge an extra $746.08 markup above the replacement cost from the awning manufacturer. Completely ridiculous. Of course insurance would not pay or agree to that kind of markup. Caused me a huge amount of trouble in having to pick it up and take to another place, which agreed with the insurance company. This doesn't even take into account how they were going to charge me a $1000.00 more than the quoted the insurance company. This place is a complete ripoff with the sorriest service I have even had to deal with! "

" Paid in full with cash for used fifth wheel 3 years ago and they had not provided a title. They tried to pawn off the responsibility of getting a title and registration on us 3 times and wash their hands of the fact the original owner passed away and they never bothered completing 2 transfer of ownership before ours. I had to look up state rules to get them to do their job. Dealerships MUST complete the registration and title for each transfer or get charge a massive fee for each violation. They had 5 violations in our paperwork. Once I pointed out the mistakes to the manager including signature fraud (one of their employees falsified both our signatures to try to push the transfer of title through) they had it fixed in two weeks. I think the first 2 good reviews are not from actual customers. "

" I've always heard that the clowns who sell and service RVs and travel trailers are criminals and crooks, but this place takes that to an unprecedented level. By far the worst "business" with which I have ever dealt and I've done a lot of business. Find--make that *hire*--a stellar lawyer and THEN consider buying and/or servicing here. Better yet, like me, don't do either and save yourself an immense amount of grief. You'll thank me later. "

" I purchased my Grand Design here which I am happy with. Unfortunately, I brought it in for some warranty repairs 9 days ago. I was calling in everyday and then started going there every day to check on the status, always being told they were waiting on warranty approval. He finally gave me the warranty guys email who informed me he responded on the third day! And one of the items was never submitted.
It's still sitting there and I dont think they'll ever do anything and I'm told warranty work has to be done at that location!
Is this how they make money on the warranties? Let me spend $2,000 for the extra protection and then just wait me out until I can't afford to wait on them anymore? "

" We were on an exploratory mission with no intent to buy any time soon. Gary showed us a variety of options to help us decide what type of camper will best suit our needs. I would definitely feel comfortable purchasing from this outfit. "

" We were very satisfied with the purchase of our new travel trailer. No pushy salesperson. They gave us time and answered all our questions. "

" Our overall experience awesome. When we went to close there was a misunderstanding on what was the down payment for bank. The sales manager and finance manager made it right. They cared more about us then the money. We got more than a fair deal on our trade and final price on our Reflection. Kody our salesman was not pushy and let us have space to discuss our trailer. "
