The MS in Biotechnology at SFASU was the first MS in biotechnology in the state of Texas. The major was created in 1996. The program is a thesis only program that trains students with hands-on biotechniques and to critically think and problem solve through challenging and innovative research projects. The program is a 2 year program designed to provide a well rounded and thorough education in the field of Biotechnology. The graduates from our program have choices when they look for a job. Our graduates go into academic and industry research as laboratory research associates, continue on for a Ph.D., go into medicine, become high school teachers, go into sales, forensics and any area of life science they choose.
