Early in the year of 1928, Sister Anna L. Knox, formerly of Colorado, thought it proper to establish a Chapter for the Order of the Eastern Star in the town of Fairmount Heights, Maryland. She was the wife of a Master Mason who was instrumental in establishing Fairmount Lodge No. 92. Being a charitable organization the purpose was to have a sister Chapter to Fairmount Lodge No. 92 and to engage in unified service to God and man, standing as a beacon of light, being ready to serve our community in religious, civic and charitable activities. After calling together several ladies who were wives, mothers, widows, daughters and sisters of Master Masons, Sister Knox named the Chapter, Columbine. She chose this name for the state flower of Colorado because of its beautiful shade of blue and its distinctive petals.
