The Van Wert Fire Department is an ISO rated class four paid department, whose primary response district is the City of Van Wert. This area is approximately 10 square miles and protects a population of 10,846. Van Wert Fire Department is authorized a staff strength of 19. Our firefighters continue to work in a three platoon system, with three shifts of six personnel. Each shift is staffed with one Captain and one Lieutenant. The full time firefighters are augmented by a paid on-call reserve force of ten firefighters.
