We, the members of the squad, are all volunteers , community members, and most importantly, your friends and neighbors. We take great pride in delivering free Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Rescue assistance to the residents of Wall Township , and providing EMS support to the Glendola and West Belmar Fire Companies.
The Wall Township First Aid & Rescue Squad relies on individuals, like yourself, who reside in the township, to help make a difference in a person’s life by being part of a team that provides basic life support in an Emergency Medical Service to your neighbors, friends and relatives. A Registered Nurse, receptionist, a medical sales executive, a company director, a school bus driver, a police officer, a fitness consultant, and a retired school teacher are just some of your neighbors who volunteer their time to help save a life. In the year 2008 the squad responded to over 1400 calls.
Dedicated squad members, all volunteers, are lead by a team of officers with a wealth of experience in Emergency Medical Services and provide the knowledge and leadership necessary to maintain the highest standards in patient care in your community.
Do not confuse the term volunteer with amateur. Our members are all qualified to perform their duties, and dedicate themselves to maintaining and enhancing their skills. To just ride on an ambulance all members must be certified in Cardio- Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and be trained in awareness of hazardous materials, the emergency services incident command system, and awareness of weapons of mass destruction. (The latter was mandated by the State in response to the events of 9/11). All drivers are coached in the operation of emergency vehicles. Members that have contact with patients are all Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-Bs) certified by the State of New Jersey to perform their duties, some are additionally certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. In addition many of our members have taken more advanced level training in Pediatric care, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, and Assisting Paramedics. Some of our members through their experience and skill have become certified as instructors and teach in the EMT program at Jersey Shore University Medical Center .
