In the early days of aviation, before pilots had instruments to navigate, ground reference points such as mountains, lakes, rivers, and streams were relied upon to get from point A to point B. At that time, one of the best ground reference points available, as they usually provided the most direct means of navigation between two points, were the railroads. Utilizing the railroads and the lines they followed, pilots delivered the mail, cargo, passengers and conducted military operations. This means of navigation was referred to, and known as, the Iron Compass.These early pilots built reputations as being skilled knowledgeable guides who helped point the way for others. In the same sort of tradition, Iron Compass is helping clients navigate their journeys.
