Living Loud, Inc. - The Jordan Hischke Foundation - was born of our desire to share Jordan's life and love with others. Jordan was an extraordinary young man who lived an extraordinary life under circumstances that would have broken a lesser man. Instead, Jordan lived his too short life with grace, humor, and an amazing capacity to love. He had a beautiful smile that grew bigger and brighter as the years went by. Jordan was diagnosed with autism and developmental delay as a toddler. We were told he might never talk. Those who were fortunate enough to meet Jordan know how that prediction turned out! He didn't speak until he was 7 years old but he quickly made up for lost time! Our years with Jordan were a roller coaster ride of triumph and trials. He was the definition of what it means to persevere as he encountered obstacle after obstacle with language, social behavior, and sensory issues. He kept on smiling. He never gave up.
In March of 2009 Jordan was diagnosed with spinal cord glioblastoma, an incurable, rare form of brain cancer that left him paralyzed and in a wheelchair. He was given 6-9 months to live and endured surgeries, radiation, chemotherapies, pain, immobility, seizures, and a devastating stroke. Until the end he continued to smile and find joy in the simple things. A sunny day, a beautiful moon, a car ride with dad, a dandelion, a friend's voice, and always... cheese :)
Jordan left our world on June 24th, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. He will NOT be forgotten. It is our hope that we can honor his memory by supporting and helping other adolescents and young adults who have developmental disabilities reach their full potential and live a life filled with joy and purpose.
