Staying opposite at Fisherbeck Cottage. My husband stranded with our broken down car and myself and my daughter needing something to eat. I appreciate it is almost 7pm. But they would not allow children under 12 due to “atmosphere”. unable to provide any takeaway option. They did suggest takeaway pizza opposite but daughter dairy intolerant. Thanks for going the extra mile to help those in need. Or not!!? "

" Ate twice here in one week as it was so good. Steaks are locally sourced and the best we have ever had in quite a number of steak houses; juicy, flavoursome and tender with the option to cook them just how you like. Good size portions of steak are more than enough for a healthy appetite and excellent value for money. The 16oz sirloin was a challenge for a hungry, athletic 20something! The chips are amazing too - chunky cut, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Staff are really lovely and friendly but without being overbearing or pretentious. Thoroughly recommend the Log House. We will definitely be back for our next visit to the Lakes. Thanks for 2 lovely evenings. "

" The food was absolutely fantastic, all cooked to perfection by ourselves. You cook your own steak on a block of lava stone. The meal deal of £20 each including a full bottle of wine was brilliant. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. Booking is a must as they get very busy. 10 out of 10 and highly recommended "

" We were enticed by the offer of 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £40. Unfortunately both of our starters were not nice. I had the chicken wings and my wife had loaded potato skins. The chicken was greasy and a really strange texture, almost as if they had been frozen, not great for £7! Also I had rib eye and my piece was very thin, not a good cut of meat. My wife's was a good standard to be fair. Unfortunately we won't be going back here. "
